With the New Year just around the corner, we’ve been thinking of all the wedding trends and fun things that couples will be considering for 2019. From colours to food, flowers to timing, we’ve got all the tips you need for your on trend wedding planning.
While it is common for couples to have a smaller wedding during the day, and invite more guests for the evening, new trends for 2019 indicate that some couples will be holding wedding parties after the day they actually tie the knot.
Whether you’re back from getting married abroad, or simply prefer an extravagant party to celebrate the ‘I Dos’ in the evening, night-time celebrations are now proving more popular than ever. Our evening reception package is the ideal choice for brides and grooms planning an evening soiree with friends and family.
2019 will see a shift away from the conventional whites and creams, as brighter hues take centre stage in everything from venue choice, to floral arrangements and bridesmaid dresses. Shades of red, pink, violet, purple and deeper shades of Ultraviolet look set to be popular choices for weddings next year.
Bright colours have also been a popular wedding trend during this year, with plenty of green playing a starring role in weddings finishing off 2018.
Food and Drink
It’s no surprise to hear that the much-loved prosecco remains on trend – and why not?! It’s the party drink of choice for many weddings and celebrations, so to make drinks receptions begin with a pop we have introduced a new Pimp Your Prosecco Bar, which means wedding guests can be offered a glass of fizz with a twist. To enhance or change the taste of your prosecco, choose some fresh seasonal fruit, or select various cordials or syrups. This is a fun option that gets your guests talking, and allows for theming too.
A popular is drink of the moment is, of course, gin! We offer themed gin bars for weddings, where couples can choose their top five gins to be featured. From specially made cocktails to gin fizzes, and other drinks, it promises to be a head-turning and unique addition to your evening wedding party.
Food plays a huge part of many weddings and celebrations, yet 2019 will see couples opting out of a traditional 3-course menu for something more interesting. With choices such as small plates from our new street food menu, a comforting curry inspired by our Asian Wedding package, and DIY dessert stations, food at weddings is definitely seeing an overhaul next year.
For the first time in a long time, 2019 is set to see the return of deeper, more vibrant colours. The two top flower trends we’ve spotted are hanging floral decorations or floral hoops, and a massive resurgence in the choice of Dahlias for floral arrangements – probably because of their beautiful, deep hues and striking shape.
Hanging florals have remained popular for a few years now, and we don’t see the trend slowing down anytime soon. And while flower walls remain a favourite for many in this Instagram generation, the high cost may see some couples leaning towards focusing their floral decorations on the tables (low florals), railings and centrepieces.
It’s set to be the year of video mapping, as more and more couples choose to take full advantage of the projectors that many venues now offer. Transforming the space with their choice of colours, shapes, patterns or images can add a whole new element to wedding celebrations.
The drone will also continue to be a top videography trend, as it becomes more and more accessible to young couples tying the knot. With the incredible ability to capture different perspectives, it takes the traditional wedding video to another level.
