With Halloween next week, we’ve been thinking about all the weird, whacky and wonderful things you could do with a themed wedding!
We’ve seen plenty of weddings in 2018, breaking away from the traditional and going for a unique wedding theme. If you’re looking for inspiration, we’ve singled out some of our favourites for you.
Harry Potter is still popular and with all its witchcraft and wizardry there is plenty to work with. The Hub’s gothic architecture highlighted by dramatic colours create the perfect location for a Harry Potter style event – we have the perfect Hogwarts dining room, high ceilings and old town charm, known to have inspired J K Rowling for her books.
The rise in popularity for the Outlander books and TV series means many couples are tying the knot just like Jamie and Claire. The traditional practice of “hand fasting” has seen a rise, as has dressing in muted tones, tartan and Outlander-style clothing. As so many couples love Pinterest as inspiration for planning their wedding, check out our Pinterest boards for our Outlander ideas.
Game of Thrones
Tying in to Outlander but still in a world of its own, is the Game of Thrones wedding craze. From dire wolves (aka huskies) to Margaery inspired wedding dresses, there is something special to be said about a gorgeous ceremony reminiscent of the Great Hall. Dressing can be dramatic and with winter coming, now is the time to create a wedding feast worthy of kings.
There is something truly spectacular about weddings that break away from traditional colours and wedding styles – opting for something completely unique and colourful. We’ve seen a spike in whimsical weddings recently, swapping out old-style décor for handmade lanterns, seating charts and table decorations. Those opting for outdoor weddings could include homemade bunting and lawn games like croquet or a coconut shy – in the style of Princess Eugenie – to bring a real garden fete feel to the celebrations.
