Celebrate your ‘I Dos’ at The Hub
July 12, 2018
Whilst it has long-been traditional to have a smaller wedding ceremony, and invite more guests for the evening do, new trends for 2018 indicate that some couples are holding wedding parties after the day they actually tie the knot. Whether you’re back from getting married abroad, or favour an extravagant party to celebrate the ‘I Dos’ in the evening, night-time celebrations are now proving more popular than ever.
This got us thinking of other wedding trends we are seeing in 2018, and so we’ve decided to share other fun things are couples are doing in 2018 that we are seeing at The Hub.
Prosecco remains on trend, and why not? It is the party drink of choice for many weddings and celebrations. To make drinks receptions begin with a pop we have introduced a new Pimp Your Prosecco Bar, which means wedding guests can be offered a glass of fizz with a twist. To enhance or change the taste of your prosecco, choose some fresh seasonal fruit, or select various cordials or syrups. This is a fun trend that gets your guests talking, and allows for theming too.
A popular is drink of the moment is, of course, gin! We offer themed gin bars for weddings in which couples can choose their top five gins to be featured. From specially made cocktails, gin fizzes, and other drinks, it promises to be a head-turning and unique addition to your evening wedding party.
Another option for weddings in 2018 is breaking away from traditional attire, and giving your wedding a theme. With our gothic architecture highlighted by dramatic colours, The Hub is the perfect location for a Harry Potter style event – we have the perfect Hogwarts dining room, high ceilings and old town charm, known to have inspired J K Rowling for her books.
The rise in popularity for the Outlander books and TV series means many couples are tying the knot like Jamie and Claire. The traditional practice of “hand fasting” has seen a rise, as has dressing in muted tones, tartan and Outlander-style clothing. As so many couples love Pinterest as inspiration for planning their wedding, check out our Pinterest boards for ideas on these themes.
Who doesn’t love Ru Paul’s drag race? For a truly unique take on your entertainment, we can book you a drag act that will amaze your guests ….something truly fun and different to add to the party atmosphere!
Food plays a huge part of many weddings and celebrations, yet 2018 has seen couples opting out of a traditional 3-course menu for something more interesting. From big sharing platters found on our new street food menu, to cheese wedding cakes and more relaxed options, food at weddings is definitely seeing an overhaul this year.
