The New Year sees a change in trends for corporate events and meetings – so what’s hot for 2019? We’ve interviewed Kathryn Arthur, The Hub’s Corporate Sales Coordinator, who discusses what spaces are on offer at The Hub, and what trends we can expect to see in 2019!
What’s different about The
Hub and why should people choose it for an event?
Our stunning venue is based in a truly prime spot. We are just a stone’s throw from Edinburgh
Castle, right in the middle of the historic Royal Mile and also near Waverley Station,
so we’re ideally located for so many different delegates.
The Hub is a genuinely unique venue in Edinburgh. The
Victorian, gothic architecture has been brought up to date with stylish vibrant
colours and contemporary design, incorporating original features with modern
styling. The effect created is atmospheric and a truly inspiring event space.
Overlooking the Main Hall on three sides is a spacious Gallery, a beautiful and
exciting location in itself, ideal for a range of events; and our Dunard
Library with its built in bar is ideal for a post-conference drink!
What spaces can be used for
corporate events at The Hub?
Whether you are looking for a meeting room, a conference space, a stunning location for a gala dinner, or a blank canvas to create your own set-up, all our rooms are suitable. The Main Hall, the Dunard Library, the Gallery, and the downstairs café are all versatile and can be used for multiple purposes, even during the same event. Increasingly we find customers are seeking out exclusive use venues in Edinburgh and we really fit the bill.
If you are after a large venue or have over 70 delegates,
then the Main Hall is ideal –it can accommodate up to 350, depending on set-up
requirements. Additionally, for smaller
meetings and conferences, The Dunard Library is best because with the screen
and projector already fitted, it’s an appealing space for many.
So what about the
Trends towards the end of 2018 indicated street food and
bowl food are becoming more popular, and I expect to see this through
2019. We have found both our fabulous
street food menu and ‘Pimp Your Prosecco’ Bar to be particularly well liked!
I’m also expecting production to get bigger and better.
We’re starting to see AV as an aspect clients are really putting their
thoughts, energy and money into. As
technology changes all the time and with our stunning backdrop, clients are
getting more and more ambitious!
We are finding more people seeking out exclusive use and
total use of the building. With its
flexibility and our focus on service standards, we work to make every event
special and unique, so taking the building as a whole is a great way to create a
Innovation is always top of the list too, and 2019 is going
to be an exciting time to be working in events.
I’m looking forward to a year in which we will see and trial more ideas,
more innovation and much more creativity than we’ve ever seen at The Hub
